When I double click on my local drive, I get the open with window!

Simple tip to protect from Autorun.inf viruses

External memory devices are common virus distribution method. Once you open an infected memory device the Autorun.inf will copy the virus to your machine and it will get infected as well.

However, there’s a very simple protection method that doesn’t require any third-party software.

First, you have to enable viewing hidden and protected files. You can do this simply by enabling two options from Folder Options as shown in the following image:

The perfect virus immunization for your computer – Part 3 – TrendMicro System Cleaner

We’ve featured so far two products for securing computers, Kaspersky Internet Security and PC Tools Spyware Doctor. These two products are very helpful if your operating system is working fine. But what if your computer is damaged badly by a virus or a worm and you can’t even start your Microsoft Windows in “Normal Mode” or that virus is not letting you install applications.

In order to scan your computer with Trend Micro System Cleaner, you have to download sysclean.com and download the latest pattern file from Trend Micro’s website. Extract the Zip archive of the pattern file and put the the two files on the same directory and execute sysclean.com.

Now, Trend Micros Sytem Cleaner windows should appear on the screen. Just click on scan to scan all your files or click on advanced to choose more advanced options.

Once Sysclean finished scanning your computer an log file will be generated. You can click on “View Log” to see the scan result.

For the second month in a row, representatives of the new Trojan-Downloader family Diehard have been creating a considerable stir in mail traffic.

December 2007 Top Twenty contain three variants of this program; yet another variant has joined the rankings in the first month of 2008. The unknown authors are using exactly the same approach which made families such as Warezov and Zhelatin so successful two years ago – conducting a multitude of very short lived mass-mailings. However, in contrast to Warezov, we’re not yet seeing ten new variants of Diehard every day.
